This is from our forum with Samburu Youth Education Fund scholarship recipients yesterday. Below is one of the outcomes of our light write the other night.
Lovely posts and photos!! Very happy to receive the updates and hear of your adventures and progress. So glad you are all having an amazing adventure, taking care of yourselves, and receiving cudos from the co-leaders. All the best for some fun and successful final days! It's going to be milder this week but when you return, so will winter. 20's predicted for Saturday's Broncos playoff game. More snow headed for the high country and a bit for the front range. You'll have temperature shock as well as cultural adaptations!! All the best, John Mullen
Hi Brett! I know you will be extending your visit but wanted you to know how much we appreciate you. You frequent updates, your compassion and great support of the people of the villages, the commitment to supporting the education of the young people. You are an amazing man and we recognize that and salute you!
Hey Karina!! You look as happy in the photo as you did last year! No surprise you have your drawing materials and doing your thing. Reminds me of the early folk who documented the natural world in field journals. Audubon, Muir, and other pioneering souls. You will find some fresh snow and cool temps when you return. Last week there was a spot on the news of someone taking a core sample of the snowpack as there have been some 'lanches recently and it reminded us of you and Spence and your knowledge of keeping safe in the back country. It was fascinating to see how just a little tap could dislodge a layer of seemingly solid snow. Looking forward to your return, hugs and many cool photographs!! Love ya much, Da
Bo - Please contact me soon and let me know when you'll be going to Meru. Lawrence and others will need to plan, especially now that school will be starting on Monday. The best option will probably be for them to meet you at the Thiiri Center on your way in to Meru, but if that can't happen, we need to know and make alternate plans. Josh called, too - and will meet you on Friday in Nairobi, so will need to know when and where to meet you.Call me anytime, okay? Thanks, Mom
Much love from Jhole! Skiing is great, and so is the wildlife. We spent 30+ minutes slowly driving through a herd of bison with the sunny Tetons in the background yesterday. Hope you are surviving the heat, we have been hiking in -20 degree weather up here! Spencer continues to dominate the competition in Ninja, and remains undefeated.
